Construction Management

Project Management
At The Pentacon Group. Our project managers are experienced and disciplined in the planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling various project assets to achieve specific goals. As project managers we assist the Client in defining beginning and end taking into consideration any time-constraints and cost constraints. We understand that each project is unique with unique goals and objectives; typically the goals and objectives bring about beneficial change or added value to the Company. The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the project goals and objectives while maintaining the imposed constraints. We see that the primary constraints are scope, time, quality and budget. The secondary challenge is to optimize the allocation of necessary inputs and integrate them to meet pre-defined objectives. At The Pentacon Group, we have the distinct technical skills and management strategies to bring together the right Team to manage the undertaking from start to finish, keeping the goals and objectives continually in sight.
General Contracting
General Contracting has been a traditional method for providing clients with a Stipulated Lump Sum price still used today. In this approach the client retains their consultant team who prepare a complete set of contract documents which will be used by General Contractors in the preparation of their Stipulated Price. Although the client feels there is a greater level of price protection there are still inherit risks and exposure from a price, quality and schedule perspective with this approach. The experienced staff at The Pentacon Group, apply their proven principles to minimize these risks, where uncertainty and ambiguity in the drawings are identified and requests for information provided for further clarification. The use of highly competitive, high quality subcontractors are utilized and lastly identifying any critical areas that may have an impact the project schedule. These value added services assures the client and project team they will still receive the highest level of service and quality expected from the experienced team at The Pentacon Group regardless of the delivery method.
Site Assessment
The first step in planning, designing and constructing a project requires a series of pre-site assessments and data collection tests to determine the existing conditions of the site. At The Pentacon Group, we not only obtain information through research of existing documents, but also walk on site to determine the quality assurance of the existing premises and provide clear, concise reports for action.
Leed and Sustainable Development
At The Pentacon Group, we understand that sustainable practices should be an integral part of all our project sites. Having one of our directors being involved in Canada’s first LEED certified project achieving Gold status has driven us to raise our standards and commit to a better environment. In fact, all the directors have been involved in Gold LEED projects providing our team extensive experience. With this in mind, we have welcomed a new philosophy integrating the principles of smart growth, urbanism and green building into all of our projects. We manage all our projects with "best practices" in regards to sustainability.
Cost Contracting / Value Engineering
Value Engineering, as a management technique, helps achieve balance between required functions, performance, quality, safety, and scope with cost. The proper balance results in the maximum value for the project. Our team of experienced professionals has an extensive history in the field and has analyzed all our projects from this standpoint.
